Himalayan Totems 2008

A series of sculptures using found objects in the forest collected in the streams and woods near my studio. Materials (many modified) include wood, stone, bone, feathers, grass string, and porcupine quills. Some elements have also been cast in bronze. Totems are a prehistoric visual emblem which identified early human communities. They also had sacred and/or magical connotations and these works are seen as a reminder to reconnect to the magic and sacrosanct aspect of our natural environment.
