Dark ForestSeries 2009

Works are a continuation of the Dark Forest series begun in 2008 and explore forest imagery and metaphors. The Forest Trikona Paintings and Forest Trikona Studies (oil on clay coated paper) introduce Indian yantra concepts of sacred geometric shapes and forms. The triangle figure has female and male components, based on its orientation. With the apex at the bottom it represents female/yoni/shakti energies (e.g: the Delta of Venus). In the opposite configuration, the male principle with Shivas energies (lingam) predominates. The paintings often include a Mandala sacred circle.
